Hi, i recently purchased a sansui 551 to use as a phono stage for my turntable. The receiver sounds amazing but i am having a few issues. When i play a record everything sounds fine, both channels working perfectly, no distortion or noise, then every once and a while the left channel will get...
The Phono A on my SX-850 produces a weak left signal. It is most apparent when you switch the balance left and right.
This issue isn't present on other inputs, AUX, FM, etc.
I've replaced my Pioneer PL-A25 cartridge/needle and rebalanced the tone arm, didn't make a difference. I switched it's...
I recently acquired a new Black Ice Fusion 9 MK III phono preamp. After resolving other issues in my system, I was able to focus on getting it dialed in. It now sounds glorious. My efforts focused on reducing the noise floor and increasing the natural sound of the instruments. For explanation I...
Above is from an old post. His description accurately describes my problem. Looks like the OP did not get much action - LOL
I have the same problem. It was working fine last week. I tried to play an album last night and the left channel was shot. I only had time to test a few things. I switched...
I have a Fisher X-202 integrated amplifier, restored and recapped
sounds great playing CDs through the Aux input (using an Oppo BDP-83SE player)
I recently acquired an old Dual 1009 turntable, but so far it sounds only "so-so"... experiencing excessive surface noise issues, and the volume is...
Not sure how long it's been like this, but I've always felt these speakers didnt have good bass so I'd compensate with tone controls, but this weekend I decided to sit down and measure both with a sine sweep on an app and I was shocked when everything sounded fine. But, I was using my laptop and...
Hello,
I'm going through a nice Denon PMA-701 amp. Seems a bit cheap in manufacture, but worth restoring.
The tone control uses a number of 2SC1775 and 2SC1000. Haven't replaced any yet.
The output stage also has a pair of 2SC1775 which I plan to replace by 2SC1845 unless there is a better...
After going up a tested and fully functioning pro-ject evo to my sx-5590 we’re not getting full audio out of the left side. 4 speakers are hooked up and only two on R side are playing fully. The left are very very faintly playing.
any thoughts?
What is a reasonable value of a Shure V15 Type VMR complete with stylus with some use? I have checked ebay sold listings and there seems to be a wide range of prices.
Thank you in advance for your opinions.
Hey All,
I am looking to upgrade my phono section with an external Vincent PHO-701. I have been wanting to dive into tubes without upgrading the entire Integrated Amp, so am thinking about adding the Vincent Preamp. My current setup is:
MA6300 Integrated
Rega P3 TT
Ortofon Black 250 LVB Cart...
Hey gang - I've a question about a very specific connection; I've spent a good week scrolling through various sites and not found anything that addresses this specifically, including here . . . but I'm entirely confident that somebody here will know the answer.
I'm upgrading my turntable system...
My Current set up is
Michi x3
B&W 705s
Linn Sondek with Akito Arm
Ortofon 2m bronze
Looking for recommendations for a phono preamp (really disapointed in the michi phono stage). Not sold on tubes, but might warm the system up a little. The michi is very neutral. Also looking for advice for...
Hi all,
I'm slowly working my way through a Luxman L-58a imported from Japan as a non-working unit. So far I have managed to work my way through the various issues and the amp is working well, adjusted to service manual specs and sounding sweet, except for the phono input.
The issue is that...
I am new to this forum and hope all of you can assist me.
I have an Onkyo TX SR505 receiver, a Polk sub, and a pair of Bose 401's. After recently digging out my Kenwood MK1600 turntable (also connecting an inexpensive Pyle pre-amp) and adding a new Ortofon 2M Red cartridge to revisit my LPs, I...
Hello,
I'm searching since a few days but I find no answer: The KA-9100 has two phono inputs. A friend told me one is for a MM the other for a MC cartridge. Sadly I find nothing in the manual or somewhere else. Is this true? Or are both inputs for MM (or MC)?
Thanks a lot for any help.
Peter
This is the first time I see 2.2uF tantalum at the C701/C702 phono board. I've seen threads about upgrading them from 0.47uF to 1uF I wonder if I go from 2.2uF to 1.uF that would be considered a downgrade?
Seeking information for restoring this classic P-E record changer, Model REX A-4. It is an approximate replacement for the missing changer in my 1955 Grundig 8050/USA hifi set. The 3 small belts are on order (not shown here).
The motor does not turn; I just discovered that the voltage...
Not too sure if this is the correct board to ask this but I was servicing a hs 36 and I wanted to replace the original ceramic cartridge with a MM cartridge until I realised that the pre amplifier is only built for ceramic cartridges. Is there any easy way to modify the internal circuit of the...
As the title reads, I have a HO Grado Master3 that I have been using for about 100-ish hours. My question is, does anyone else have this cart, or any cart from the Timber line, and what do they run them at on the phone stage. It is a moving iron cart. I'm confused if I should be running it on MM...
I am in the process of restoring a Fisher X-202-B that I recently obtained. I have done most of the restoration work but in the phono section the left channel is not working. Tubes not an issue and normally I could just trace through the circuits and find the issue. The phono section of the...
Hi all,
In the past, I've used a selection of MM and MC cartridges. However, just recently, for cheap I acquired an ultra low output MC, a MC-20 by ortofon, and it needs a re-tip. The output is super low: 0.07mV. (This is the MK1 version, with the purple/blue body, circa 1980, much lower than...
My C32's phono is dead in the right channel, and I've isolated the issue to the input switching board. Here are the measurements (this is the Right channel phono section of the input switching board 045-023). I'm stumped and looking forward to figuring this out.
-All transistors were pulled...
So recently I have picked up two Zerozone 834P clones to use with both turntables I have. (Technics SL-QL1 and SL1200 MK2) The MK 2 is running an AT-VM95ML and AT-VM95C with no problems, but both the Grado MC+ and AT-Mono LP/3 cartridges buzz when connected.
I tried an experiment where I tied...
