Hi folks. Any idea who made this tube? It's a 12AX7 and has some lettering left. It's got "Western Germany" across the bottom and has a Fisher label as well. It has long ribbed gray plates but has a top D getter, not the usual Telefunken halo. It does NOT have the diamond on the bottom.
Never seen one from FISHER like that. The latter tubes lettered "THE FISHER" on the top 1/2 in a large font with Made in West Germany on the bottom usually made by Tele, as you noted. The tube designation followed the same font and in one line around the tube, not in an octagon. It almost looks like a fake re-lettering to me. It could be a Siemens, or one of the Phillips Co's if it was made in W.Germany.
Looks like a Lorenz to me. They are good tubes. During that era Telefunken was not the only game in town.
I'm pretty sure I have a 12AX7 marked GE and "Made In Italy" with that same 12AX7/ECC83 box and wimpy getter flash.
Valvo? just a guess. This is a fun resource, German based website. Click on the pics of the tubes for a larger image http://www.tube-classics.de/TC/Tubes/AudioTubes.htm http://www.tube-classics.de/TC/Tubes/Valvo ECC83/ECC83.htm http://www.tube-classics.de/TC/Tubes/SieTel ECC83/ECC83.htm
Amen, there are lots of really good AX7s that fly under the radar. I save the Teles and Mullards to sell later if I need money and use 5 or 10 dollar tubes that sound as good or better to me. I've never seen a tube like that come stock in a Fisher either. Does it flash white in the bottom on cold start up?
