amazing they can get a 292 to spin fast enough to do that. Usually the long stroke is not an advantage on that one. The 250 is the same hole but a shorter throw.

Yeah, that`s probably about right. Here`s another honkin` six-banger, running 24 psi....with a properly-built engine (all forged internals), and a big turbo, prodigious amounts of power can be had....

I understand that the cars were going so fast that they couldn't stop. I understand that most drag strips couldn't extend their run-out areas. Even though I understand all that, IMO, a drag race is 1/4 mile (1320feet). Anything less is ????

In my opinion, they run a full 1/4 mile if they can do so safely. That would keep'em on their toes. Just my .02 Eric
