I've had a number of preamps over the years but this is my first passive. Rather than spending $100 on another Niles AXP-1 switch box I decided to give this more versatile passive a try and I'm sure glad I did. The build quality is much higher than you'd expect at this price. It features a micro switch to toggle between three input sources with a nice dim LED when powered on ( the unit is passive but the switch is powered ).The case is extruded aluminum and the volume pot has a quality feel with good range. When substituted for a Bottlehead Foreplay III preamp driving Bottlehead mono blocks I really couldn't tell I was losing anything. Perhaps a bit of warmth but certainly no detail. The two outputs make life easier for bi-amping my OB's. I know passives like short cables but the Nobsound performs well with mine which are all 3 feet in length. You can find them on Amazon and eBay for the same price. The Nobsound sounds like nothing as it doesn't add to or take away anything from my amps. One can pay audiophile prices for passive preamps with exotic wiring and costly potentiometers but would they sound better than nothing?
