I believe my new amp will have these as input tubes- I'm use to 12AX7 tubes. My favorite being a late 1950s long grey plate Tung Sol horseshoe getter. Super transparent, clear, deep bass, most "realistic tube" I have Telefunken smooth plate is well smoother and has more mid, but it has a different type of "3D" sound a small but still 3D sound.
Anyway point is- I don't love Mullard I63 short plates for audio(guitsr amp is better), I don't love RCA- long or short, GE are fine long or short, and the only Holland made Amperex I had were 12AU7 so it wasn't that fair a contest but I liked them.
Who makes/made the most transparent/big/deep sounding 6DJ8 type tube? I wouldn't mind a tube like the Telefunken 12ax7 if it has more deep bass.
-Also waiting to hear from Dennis but if it takes 7DJ8 I can probably afford to try many more pairs of those!
