Any one here use a Coordinate Measurement Machine at work?

We have a couple of Zeiss optical units, but I leave them to the metrology tech - my technical savvy only goes as far as a tool scope.

Currently, no. In the past have used (several) manual CMMs. Just got layed (or is it "laid"?) off and am considering trying to get back into that field (machine shop inspection).

My job last year, they had a vintage Giddings and Lewis. Tried to find a picture, but this one had a single arm instead of two supports, which seems to be more common.

It was good when it worked, which was almost never.
