Any thoughts on Monarchy Audio DT40A player?

Specifically this is a laserdisc player based on the Theta Data II unit, i am not certain just what Monarchy Audio might have done with their version, I believe it has more dampening inside. I bought mine from a fellow audiophile some time ago, about 15 years back.

It started to not want want to read CDs reliably, it always took it's time reading them which is just the way it was designed but would habitually open the large tray and then close again. I am thinking perhaps a switch may need adjusting and the laser might need cleaning or maybe their is an issue with the clamping device, a lot of players use some sort of felt or other material so it could be this needs addressing. Laserdiscs play fine though.

I will say that it is a great platform as a transport, heavy and rock steady with a substantial clamping mechanism which obviously helps towards it being above average. Even Monarchy has little information on it, has a Phillips laser assembly. Some images from the net.
