I didn't get any response to my question on the AR thread so I'll try in the turntable general forum. I pulled out an AR XB that I go several months back to see if it could be made into a working turntable. It has shined up fairly well, but when I got to the motor, I found it has 48 volts to ground with the switch off. You can even feel the motor vibrate while it is off. Very rarely are ground issues fixable on electric motors, so I don't have much hope of finding a lead shorted to the case (the voltage to ground would be higher if it were). So what does one do in a case like this? Are their replacement motors that don't require a massive amount of adaptation to fit one of these, or do I have to wait until someone offers one up for auction? I purchased it because the motor does run, but I didn't catch the ground issue when I was being shown the table. If all else fails, I guess I could sell it for parts, but I'd really like to fix it if I don't have to empty my bank account to do so. Suggestions?
