THE SETUP: I am rebuilding a Thorens TD 124 MKI turntable. Because I am new to some of the parts used in it's construction, I am opening a thread to get specific help from you Thorens rebuild experts.
I am having trouble identifying I the serial number on my unit because the original owner adhered something to the nameplate directly over the SN and then I scraped it off later. I likely I will iinvestige this later in the thread.
Im planning on getting some naval jelly as per recommendation from Analog Depot (http://www.theanalogdept.com/33389.htm) in order to clean and shine all metal parts. I will be performing a full motor rebuild and compete dissembly/reassembly.
FIRST QUESTION: I would like to remove the nameplate with the speed control numbers. I have never removed rivets before. I am aware that you can drill or hammer out rivets, but I would prefer to learn without a whole lot of trial and error on this table. Can anyone give me specific guidance for removing the two rivets which hold the nameplate to the chassis? Photos appreciated
