Hi All,
A year ago I bought a pair of these speakers for around $400 on EBay. The UPS guy must've dropped the box good, because the coil became dislocated from the crossover panel on one of the units. I didn't return the speakers as they sounded quite good and still do!
The clunking the coil meant that I finally opened the speaker up to take a look. The coil was partly unwound and of course once I tried to "fix" it, it became even more unwound!
I put the speaker back together, closed it up, and it still sounds fine. I can buy a new crossover from B&W for $120. I will also call them to see if they can just replace the coil. B&W has a facility near me in Redwood City, CA, so I want to see what they suggest.
However, does this matter at all folks? I have a half unwound coil that is detached from the panel, and it looks like a mess. But the speaker sounds fine!
