Hi guys! New guy here with a relatively straightforward question.
On the weekend I got my parents old Dual 601 turntable. Got it home and tried it out. The platter was spinning way too fast. Did a quick Google search and found that the belt was slipping lower on the platter, causing it to speed up.
I moved the belt up with my fingers, put the platter back on and it played fine.
Turned it off, did some parenting, came back. Turned it on to play something and again, way too fast.
33 plays fast, 45 plays very fast.
I'm thinking the belt is just worn and needs to be replaced with a tighter newer one.
Is that about right?
Thanks!
