Picked up a refurbished Lumix DMC-ZS50, just to have something tiny with a superzoom that I can keep in the car. We went looking for Sandhill Cranes at sunset yesterday, but they have already migrated north to breeding grounds in Modoc. :(

Oh, well. These cute little guys were there in force. With its tiny 1/2.3" sensor, not a lot of detail, but 720mm equivalent reach at f6.3, optical viewfinder, super focusing and anti-shake, it does ok for under $200.

Saw a Hawk in the perennial garden yesterday morning. That was a first. Shot through the window, so focusing was a little difficult.Hawk in backyard.jpg

Got a snap of Steven this morning sitting on my neighbour's roof (Steven was on the roof, not me :D). Taken with my Nikon D3200 and Tamron 70-300mm. I dialed -0.7 exposure compensation after seeing it a bit over exposed. I've used a bit of -10 brightness and +5 contrast too. It's made it look as if I've sepia toned it slightly but I like it.
