Hi,
I usually stick to Duals and Lenco's, but I couldn't resist this little gem from 1958/9.
Knew nothing about it, when I found it in a junk shop, but once home, starting reading up on this Dieter Rams' creation.
So I completely took it apart, including the motor, and was surprised when she came to life! Motor runs fine and quiet, BUT
I've crudely tested the four speeds, all pretty much correct. Playing a 45, it sounds ok. When I put on a 33, although the platter runs @ 33rpm, the combined weight of the record plus the 'dragging' of the stylus bring the speed down right down.
There's no built in mechanism to adjust the speed; the idler wheel runs off of a 4 stepped spindle, as apposed to a conical one (that allows some adjustment)
It's a lovely piece, but would really like to get it to play records at the correct speed.
Strange that the 'lighter' weighted 45 plays OK.
Long shot, but if anyone can help, much appreciated.
