Cheap HiFi for starters

oh that looks lovely :D need to contact them and see some prices.

Went to a DIY store here where they had some special Lowthers created by a very old man who was a sound legend here (he passed away last year) and who was allowed to build anything he wanted and brand them as Lowther.

They asked 2200e for those, but they were pretty much best sounding speakers I've heard so far.

Update: Bought a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and a Magni 2 Uber from ebay for 225e barely used.
Also got a Little Dot I with additional Mullard tubes to go well (hopefully with the K7xx).

Will definitely use the Modi2 as the DAC and thinking about use the Y RCA cables. That should cover it right?

It will be PC or CCA > Modi 2 Uber >> Headphone Amp of choice AND a speaker amp > headphones or speakers

What you think?

Or should I use the Magni 2 Uber feature for speakers?

Thanks a lot!

The Magni 2 Uber looks like a combo headphone amp and preamp. I would use the Modi DAC with the CCA and speakers but you have several options and I'd try them all.

Maybe this thread is forgotten, however I´m going to recommend an affordable hifi.

I am not an expert, I would simply like to share my experience with other folks who want a good sound system without spending a lot of money. Of course there will be better components than the ones I mentioned. My experience with them has been very satisfactory, that's why I recommend them.

Source - Raspberry Pi 3. You can play your digital files, stream from Spotify Connect, Tidal, etc. I use Volumio software. (50$)

https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-3-model-b-plus/
https://volumio.org/

Dac - IQaudio Pi dac + (or other dacs as Hifiberry, Allo, etc). These dacs support 24 bit / 192 kbps (30 - 50 $)

https://www.hifiberry.com/
https://allo.com/sparky-dac.html

Preamp - Fx Audio Tube 01 (30 - 60 $) You have the information about it: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/fx-audio-6j1-tube-preamp-a-31-wonder.848535/
This pream / buffer provides a beautiful tube sound. Gives a better, bigger and richer sound. I highly recommed rolling the stock tubes for a pair of Voskhod 6J1P-EV tubes. Other folks recommend the Ericsson 5591 / 403 B or GE JAN 5654w. Interesting tubes review

Another improvement would be using a regulated power supply (12v) as this one: https://ebay.to/2Bnjmc3

Amp - TPA 3xxx based amp. (15 - 129 $)
In this huge thread you have the information about it: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/tpa-3116-vs-the-tripaths.574806/

You can find plug and play boards from a few $ until, maybe the best amp tpa based, the Volt+ D https://allo.com/sparky/volt-plus-d-amp.html .
At page 10 of the threat you have a brief resume of those boards: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/tpa-3116-vs-the-tripaths.574806/page-10

Speakers - Q Acoustics 2020i (150$) https://www.whathifi.com/q-acoustics/2020i/review

I love these speakers. Sound brilliant, the sound of each instrument is perfectly distinguished. (I bought them for 135 euro in Spain).

For $ 300 you can have a great sound equipment that will make you enjoy music.

I don't think it was available when OP posted this. But today, I'd probably recommend the topping mx3 as a budget all in one solution of dac/amp/headphone amp.
