Dare I say, Pics of Listening Spaces continued Part 2

Since I'm finding a lot of pics disappearing from the listening space thread, there are so many pages of people talking about pics of stereos that you can't see anymore.... Maybe it would be cool to continue the thread in a new thread with a higher picture density, everyone's updated setups and possibly the use of the nice shiny new cameras you guys and gals got for Christmas!

Just an idea, and if you agree, post your listening spaces! part 2!

Thanks! Hopefully the the A25's will soon be replaced by a mint pair of KLH Model 5's.

Nice stuff and all. But.... Is that an optical illusion, or are there a couple yellow wires just hanging out in space off a transformer that's under power? (lower left corner of pic)

They lead into the little red thingy* next to the green wires.
It might be harder to see due to your screen brightness.

oh and the new laptop server with Audioquest Dragonfly, I find the tube screensaver really adds some warmth to the sound.

Impressive ! That Dragonfly thing, what does it do ? is it Just a USB to digital coax converter ? How do you output sound from the laptop via USB ? Sorry I'm new to this computer audio stuff, I do have J-River installed on my laptop though.

Impressive gear, amazing tables, and sweet and comfortable room. :thmbsp:

How do you like that Dragonfly? Have you made any comparisons to other DAC's?

Jimmy

the dragonfly is a usb dac. small but a very nice sounding DAC. they are all the rage in the magazines so I thought I would take a chance on one. as far as how it outputs sound from the usb, I have no idea, I just plug stuff in and hope it works!

Thanks Jimmy! I like the dragonfly, I don't have much experience with usb dac's but I have a pro ject usb dac and I like the dragonfly more. It has a real nice open sound, best soundstaging I have had from a computer and natural timbre with clean crisp highs. smooth's out the digital harshness and has nice tight bass. Plus it is stupid easy to use, plug it in and you are ready to go. Really I just didn't really want another box to find a place for so this was small and easy.

I would really like to compare it to other usb dac's however no one I know down here has one.

Ohh nice, thought it was just an adapter and then fed to a DAC downstream, I'm gonna look into to those....thanks

yeah I like it, I wouldn't spend so much on a cable for it next time. there doesn't seem to be much difference between the $60 audioquest golden gate I am using now and the cheap radio shack cable I was using. and yes I am a believer in cables.

Heres a few pics of mine, taken with my new Olympus E-PL3 and a vintage Russian Helios lens - only just started messing with decent cameras so the shots may not be the best haha! The gear is: Technics SU-7700 amp, ST-7300 tuner, RS 615-US tape deck and SH-8020 EQ. Speakers are Acoustic Solutions AV-120's, a cheap and nasty speaker as standard but Ive spent some time upgrading these, they have my Favourite Mission tweeters (700 HF series), decent crossovers and proper internal sound-deadening and sound pretty good for the price :D

Because of the location of the window in my room, its very hard to get a good picture of the entire system with both speakers, heres my best effort :D
