Here's a kit I built from bare Keller shells. Drilled and painted myself, but sent the lugs and rims out to be professionally powder coated.

I was thinking of trying Fiberskyn on my 10" roto tom with 4" acrylic shell that just happens to fit perfectly in my Sonor snare stand. I use a Yamaha stand for the snare. (a Ludwig Super Sensitive 5.5") of course I also have the original sonor snare but no one makes a better snare than the Ludwig SS. (OK Slingerland TDR and Rogers Dynasonic )

Roto's are already timbale-esque.....a fiberskyn and shell would make it even more so.....a timbalito in the case of a 10".

Too many great snares out there for me to have a fave. I still haven't gotten my hands on an early Black Beauty...that one could take it.

Very nice! What bearing edge profile did you go with? And how many plies? And did you use a Mohawk dye to stain the shells?

The edges were precut but it's been a few years and I don't remember the details... This started as more of an expiriment so I bought a cheap pack of oddball sized shells that I ended up really liking.

They are lightly painted and clearcoated rather than stained.

Yesterday was our 25th wedding anniversary. My wife plays flute and her flute was lost in a fire a long while ago. For the silver anniversary I got her a new flute...silver, of course. :)

She reciprocated with this:

And that's why we've been married 25 years. :D

There's a sexual underlying theme here. :scratch2: :D

Gretsch announced a new version of the Broadkaster kit, and when I was Googling around for info, I noticed this thread. Here's my original Broadkaster, 1947, sizes 9x13, 16x16 and 14x24. "Rocket Lugs." I am missing one of the single flange hoops, but now I put 302 rims all around. The drums are actually 6 ply, and clearly date stamped. I had some extra holes plugged by Joe Cusatis. Don't have the original snare.

Thanks, Beatnik!
Is there a goat drummer thread on AK??
A talented friend of ours molded pigs heads from....pig's heads.
:D
I rarely use that kit live because I don't want to abuse it. Mostly use house kits or kits provided by whoever promoted the night. Those always have a 22" kick drum. I found using the 24" for recording took an adjustment because I was so used to the smaller size. And rehearsal spaces always provide 22"ers as well.

I don't have a live video with the Gretsch kit, but this is from the same venue as the stills: :thmbsp:]
