Two songs i love because of the dynamic drums are :Elton John "Curtains" from captain fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy and the Carly Simon track "that's the way I've always heard it should be" :do any similar tracks come to mind?

Your posting this caused me to go back and listen to the Carly Simon tune, which I have always loved, but the lyrics of which, I never really listened closely to. I knew the words to the refrain, but never really listened to the rest of what she was saying. Well...just wow. Profound. I always loved the music so much, I just never focused on those words. And I dig the attention you brought to the drums, which play an important part of that song.

Zappa (Terri Bozzio, more to the point):
Hands with a Hammer.

Some of the best recorded "rock" drums I am aware of.

Best recorded drums that I know of, full stop:
Old Hymn from the Crystal Clear Records direct to disk album Charlie Byrd.

(one may skip up to 4:05 for the solo)

"Substitute"
The Who
You forgot Bell Boy from Quadrophenia ;)

Not that any of these clips'll do these recordings justice
