Hi all, long time lurker here, thought I'd introduce myself. I like looking through thrift stores and garage sales, I like old (and new) audio gear, and listening to music, so instead of fighting to attain that ever-distant goal of a "minimalist" lifestyle, I thought, screw it, and just roll with my hoarder urges. The significant other will provide the balance. I'm basically here to cop to it publicly I have to give a shoutout to the general audio enthusiast community - I recently bought a pretty decent shape sansui 9090 from local neighbor who had purchased it new. Not only was his price fair, he threw in two very decent sets of speakers along with it just so that they'd go to someone who appreciates them! That's the general spirit I've run into amongst other audio geeks. I'm hear to learn about how to maintain / restore my old stuff and other general tips and techniques for increasing the spousal acceptance factor of this habit! oh, currently I'm listening to a Yamaha Cr-820 with a pair of B&W CDM2's with a denon dp300f turntable. Nothing crazy fancy, but it sounds alright to me.
