I had stopped at my favorite Goodwill on my way home tonight
and I got to talking with one of the sales ladies there.

I was asking her if they ever get in vintage audio equipment
that doesn't work when when they test it... she said. "All the
time!"

I asked if there would be anyway they could call me when this
happens and I'd take it off of their hands - she said I'd have to
talk to one of the managers (doing that tomorrow as they weren't
in while I was there...).

Then I told her that I was mainly interested in the really big units,
she told me that if it's too big, they turn them away as they don't
have the room to keep them on the shelves!! :sigh:

I gave her some of my cards and asked that they have those
people give me a call!

We shall see! :thmbsp:

Good luck. I have been told by people that know that the local stores near me never, ever, put anything of value out because the employees keep them to eBay themselves...

That's what I've heard too, but it never hurts to try! :thmbsp:

No wonder I never see anything good at SA here:( The thought that employees would take stuff for themselves never even crossed my mind. I guess I'm not evil or greedy enough.

I always overestimate human nature, it seems.

The sitcom Malcolm in the Middle did a show where Malcolm and Reece got a job in a thrift store just to glom onto all the good stuff. They sold it at school and were making a bundle.

The thrift stores around here have figured out that this stuff is valuable. They sometimes ask ridiculous prices for mediocre beat up stuff. If it sits on the shelf for more than an hour, one or more of the knobs disappear or they stack a toaster oven on top of it.
