Hi Pougatchoff: the HifiBox SL1000 is quite likely a great speaker. But their used price is unfortunately somewhat prohibitive. It seems that there are way too many people wanting to own them.

Having said that: I saw that you also have experience with the HiFi-Box 800 and HiFi-Box 1000 (the one without "SL"). How do you rate them and how do they compare to each other? I presume that their smaller sibling HiFi-Box 600 is the predecessor of my Box 650b. I'm still wondering whether a Grundig Box with a bit more slam at the bottom end would be even more fun. A second pair of Grundig speakers could probably do no harm...

Hi, I've just joined the forum because i've seen this topic of discussion and I happen to have right now in Buenos Aires, Argentina a Grundig complete set compending Grundig MXV 100, Grundig MA 100, Grundig MT100 and the glorious Grundig SL1000, all of them in silver gray and almost perfect conditcion with it's manuals and all, and I am trying to sell them, but as they are very weird and not that well known in Argentina, its difficult for me to sell theme here. Maybe you would know anyone who could be interested on them !

unfortunately the tweeters of your SL1000 have been changed...

My new toys : Grundig HiFi-Lautsprecher-Box 425
They use similar part as the 40a but have only 2 tweeters.
Easy to put on a shelf, easy to use with many amplifiers.

Old caps have been replaced by soviet K73.

Hi! I can buy Hifi Box600 or Minerva RB 6050 HiFi, prace is the same . Which one do You reccomend? My amplituner is Pioneer Sx990, source vinyls ( mainly rock - Floyds,Zeps, ect). There is also Box 500 but its 40 euro more expensive and i dont know , wheter the guy will ship it. Thanks

If I was you I would choose Minerva RB 6050.... but Pioneer amplifiers are not the best choice for Grundig speakers !

Thanks for advice so i guess i got to try them out first. Other options are Magnat Bull 203 and Braun LC3 in concert. Do You have experience with vintage pioneer amps- what brand of speakers should I look for?

Ok, situation hasła changed. I bough Hifi Box 400, and V7200 amp ( for 15 euro ) . Plus grundig ps 1020 turntable ( also 15 euro ). I will test this setup soon Thanks for Your help.

I decided to dismantle one tweeter from box 850a, because one of them seems poor sounding than other. Definitely someone tried to repair this one, there are tapes everywhere and old wire at the cone broke off, someone tried to solder voice coil from the inside.. Resistance between voice coil is 11 ohm.

I looked over ebay for a pair but unfortunately none popped up since weeks.

My question is; can I buy 19mm 4ohm voice coil and try to repair this one? Is it doable? Or is it a waste of time and effort?

I don't know if it will sound good if you repair tweeters... I think the better way is to be patient and look every day on the german ebay.

Maybe someone can help me? I found these speakers locally for 35 eur - it says grundig box 80, but it looks nothing like box 80 from grundig catalogs I could find. Drivers look different from the ones from other hifi boxes. No info about them anywhere - maybe they're fake, but why would someone fake consumer electronics. Just thinking is it worth recapping, changing the dust dome (which has disintegrated)?

Love this thread. Right now I own two pairs of Grundig Hifi-Boxes: the 400 and the 303 M. Both of them still sound great and can still compete with today's designs.

Hello. This is a very interesting web thread.
I have a pair of Grundig hifibox 412 speakers. There are 3 way type (one tweeer less than 425). I like these beautiful design very much, but I feel the sound is thin. Is this the state where it's necessary to replace the capacitor of the unit? I think that the capacitor has probably never been changed.
