Headphone out to active monitors

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a digital piano, Yamaha YDP143. It doesn't have line outs, which would be ideal, but it does have 2 headphone outs. I understand the impedances would be unmatched and the monitors would see a different voltage than expected (~0.5V).

Would there be a noticeable degradation in sound quality and possible damage to the equipment? Can I just vary the output volume on the headphone preamp and adjust the volumes on the monitors accordingly? Can you guys think of any glaringly awful outcomes?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Should work just fine. Set the volume to minimum on both the piano and the monitors initially and then gradually increase on both to find useful levels/range.

Looks like this piano can send out Midi over USB, just an uneducated thought but you might be able to utilize a USB midi interface that has proper line-level outputs, but probably this is more what you need.
