hello from Cornwall UK

Thanks everyone for the kind welcomes.

Audiobiker - I'll try to upload some pics in due course but as I work only in analogue it's sometimes difficult scanning prints and the uploads don't usually do justice to the originals. Although my flickr account isn't much used there are a couple pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53119625@N04/

Cheers -
Bill

Did you attend any Olympic events? Thrill us with some snaps if so. I'd like to hear some first-hand about the opening and closing as well. Beady Eye did Wonderwall. Welcome and Oasis Forever!!!

Didn't attend the event but was glued to the tele all the way through.

Cheers Lee.
Don't know anything about passive radiators........ I'm still on a learning curve with all this stuff. Being keen on art and design, I tend to base my purchases on how much I like the look of them ! (aswell as performance also).

Does the driver on the bottom have a white ring on it? If so, it's passive radiator, used to give extra bass response.

Dont see many Capri's on the road these days. I used to have Cortinas (which probably contradicts what I just said about looks and performance !)

Here are some pictures of my Capris.

As for the Cortina, they've always looked good to me, and the Lotus Cortinas were no slouches. As with all old Fords, it's easier to slot in a hot engine, I've seen Cortinas with Sierra Cosworth engines in.

Welcome aboard, Bill.

I had the pleasure of traveling through Cornwall when I was a lad. Beautiful countryside you have there. :thmbsp:

Welcome to AK. I hope to visit your most lovely part of the UK the next time I'm there (I'm a soft touch for a pint :D) I'd love to import a 2.8 injection or Brooklands some day.

Welcome, love Cornwall, although I haven't been there. The Cornish Crabber is a favorite boat of mine, don't have that either!

Lovely Ford memories Lee. I remember as lads nearly everyones 1st car was either a Capri, Escort or Cortina.
My Cortina was a MK4 2.0S but I was jealous of my mate who had an Escort RS 2000.
Like a lot of things from those days, I wish I kept some of them (especially my motorbikes) as they're now very scarce and collectable.

And yes .... the Celestions have the white ring. I bought them cos I liked the retro looks. Am wanting to upgrade though to something a bit more up to date. My turntable is fairly high end and I'd like some speakers to do it real justice.

I used to work on a Cornish Crabbing boat when I left school ! Fishing was my absolute passion and grew up in a small Cornish fishing village for 40 yrs.

The old Cornish industries are dying out now though as development takes over and wealthy incomers are buying up properties and pushing prices way out of reach of the local people

Welcome Bpse! I am new to AK too. The folks here are very friendly, the discussions are great and the topics are abundant! Enjoy!

Yes it is - that's in Port Issac, a typical Cornish fishing village and about 35miles from where I am

Tell me about it! There was a twin cam Mk1 Escort at a petrol station that kind of had a showroom behind it. It was for sale for 7 grand for the longest time about 10 years ago. It's probably worth twice that now...

"Up to date" might not be better. You could try replacing the capacitors in the crossovers before you do anything else. If you still want to upgrade after that, I'd recommend a pair of Mission 770s or KEF 104aBs.
