Hi, I'm Kathy and I'm a vinylholic.

Welcome to AK Kathy. The NW is definitely vinyl country and if it's any consolation we just rebuilt our fence due to wind...lol!

As a fan of Penderecki and others you mentioned allow me to say that you will find plenty of non mainstream live music here in the NW...

Let us know when you move and perhaps my wife and I can help you get familar with our area...

Again welcome to AK

I hate Vinyl.....as in Vinyl siding for our house. It's like a can of gas and some idiot is smoking a big fat stogie right beside it. I've seen too many neighborhoods go POOF due to that stuff.

Oh, and welcome to AK Kathy.

.....Have you ever seen the Babette blanket? If only I could learn that craft, I would so make this.

That's cool! All that is is a bunch of different sized granny squares. Is there a pattern somewhere? Wild colors I like it! I learned to crochet with one of those 'teach yourself crochet' kits. I tried the knitting one, my problem I think is keeping track of more than one stitch at a time.:scratch2:

BTW, I agree with the sneaking stuff in idea, it's always easier to ask forgiveness than get permission!

I told my DH if I could build my system, I would set him up with a garage one.

Yes, a pattern and a crochet-a-long.

Also it is well worth the wait to join ravelry. The community is amazing, it's set up so elegantly, and you can get a gajillion ideas for projects. Besides it's yarn and project porn galore. Let me know if you join and I'll add you as a friend!

Howdy and welcome to AK, Kathy!

That HK receiver is one of the champagne-coloured ones with a load of tiny buttons, right? Why not post a pictures or two of it...?

Wow, I don't think I could afford to make that in %100 wool! Looks like a good use for scrap yarn though. Maybe when I'm through with the charity things I'm doing now I'll try it (but not in wool!). I put my name on the ravelry list, about a 4 day wait right now. I also belong to craftbuddy. Very friendly site but mostly older people, they do a lot of charity work. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we got some of the guys here to try it? :D

my little cupcake here welcomes you!!

I think I can do that if I point my macbook at it. It's a black receiver. I'll sort that today. The guy threw in a cd player along with it (total 90$), but the cd player skips. I hope to figure out if I can fix that.

Lady Ayeka! i've never heard of that series, but I am a huge fan of Miyazaki. My husband is deeply devoted to his Japanese graphic novels. Right now, he is finishing up the Phoenix series. I will look for Tenchi Muyo over at amazon.

Start with a can of air, there may just be some grit or something in the tracking gear. I fixed my portable DVD that way. There was a burr on the plastic gear that tracked the laser and I took it off with a nail file. Did the former owner have small children? They're good for putting stuff in things where it shouldn't be.

success with using ibooth.

Thanks, nice looking set! Here it is reversed so the numbers are legible:

CD players can sometimes be revived by careful cleaning of the laser lamp, but not always, I fear.

And sadly, to replace the laser lamp is rarely practical.
