I broke it!

While adding longer speaker wire to my LF speaker ( I had the receiver on) the wires made a small arc.I didn't think much of it as its happened on many occasions throughout the years. Well this time it fried something in the receiver. The only sound that comes to the speaker is a buzz and it makes the woofer fully excurt out. I obviously disconnected it immediately. All the other speakers work fine still. Nothing appears burnt inside the receiver. What do you guys think happened? Where should I begin testing? I have a multi-meter

The output is shorted to the DC high voltage rail. IE - catastrophic failure.

Time for a new receiver as so few of these can be repaired economically.

Eh I'm not too upset. It's just a Genesis media labs. Nothing too exciting anyways. I can still use it for a hifi amp by using the surround inputs in stereo mode. This thing doesn't use any kind of real surround effects anyways unless you have a DVD player with all the outputs

One bit of advice. Never make up any connection with the component powered up....Ever.
