If my basement has bass nulls, does ported/non ported matter at all?

ambitious but rubbish
ADled.png My basement is in the shape of an L, the speakers are directly across from the couch on the other side of the room. if you are in THAT section of the L, you get lots of bass, EXTREME bass when you are sitting on the couch with the wall behind your head.

However, if you leave that branch of the L and go to the other half, all bass is gone. Sucks for parties!!

I noted that if I setup the speakers the long way, that solves it, but then I have a couch in the middle of the room and it creates a boundary and its just not pleasing to the eye or flow.

I don't think you'll get a benefit by switching to ported.

The sound wave will act the same way in your room. Speakers placement is the key.

Patate91 is right - bass is bass whether it's ported or not.

I'm not sure if room treatment will be helpful or not along with speaker placement.

I know that outfits like GIK acoustics offer free acoustic advice, you might try them.

Good luck!
