Thanks, I'm very happy with them!
I will construct stands from hardwood, found the dimensons on the IMF-Electronics group on Yahoo.
I investigated recapping and I was tempted to use MKP's instead of the Elcaps but after some reading it's clear the (frequency dependent) ESR of the Elcaps was part of the filter design so I will order the Falcon Alcap kit which should keep the voicing original.
The cosmetics of the set is really amazing, hardly a scratch on the veneer and the units look new.
I will post my progress in a few weeks!
regards, Peter
I installed the capacitor kit from Falcon today:
I checked all old and new caps on my Philips PM6304 RCL meter at 1kHz, to my surprise none of the old caps were drifted more than 10% and the ESR is only very slightly higher than the new caps.
Difference is sound is minimal, maybe a bit more detail and overall a bit brighter, which I don't necessarily think is a good thing, I'll let them run in before final judgement.
I inserted the component values on the schematic and the component designators on a photo of the PCB, maybe helpful for others:
As you can see in the schematic, my HF1300's are 4 Ohm, and my HF2000 are 8 Ohm, I have asked Mr. Bloomfield from Falcon if these are correct.
The information I found on various forums is not really consistent, I found someone saying the first series of the RSPM Mk IV had 8 Ohm 1300's and 2000's but IMF shipped later Mk IV's with 4 ohm 1300's and 6 ohm 2000's without changing the filter.
I also found someone saying that not all Mk IV's sound the same, this could be a reason.
I'll report the answer from Falcon.
Next up are stands, I will be back!
