Joe Isuzu, I had forgotten how funny these add were.

Yeah, but they didn't do a lot for the Isuzu brand in North America in the long term, did they?

Thanks for the ads - always wondered where he went!
I worked for a company that had a fleet of 1980 Isuzu P'ups - diesels ...
I kinda preferred the Baby F10 pickups we got later ... that 2.3l 4 did real well!

There is the 1981/82 Lynx ad campaign which used Vangelis’ Chung Kuo (track #1) from his 1979 album China.

Took me years to get an ident on that music.
Also, the unattributed piano love music bit from The Year of Living Dangerously, L'enfant, from Opera Sauvage.

I think one of the greatest and quietly erotic add’s that has ever been which happens to feature Vangelis’ music is Chanel No 5, Share The Fantasy; “Blue Sky” The Music: Vangelis, China (1979) track #5 The Tao of Love.

Maybe I missed it in the video but I recall his 2 biggest phrases were "You have my word on it." and "Trust me, I guarantee it."

Those caught fire where I worked and everyone was saying them in meetings, to each other, even when talking to customers.

Great ad campaign though, thanks for posting it. They picked the perfect guy to play Joe Isuzu.
