Kenwood KA-4006 or KA-5700

Looking at buying one of these amps and was just wondering which is the better of the two? Both sellers are asking around the same amount for them and they are in comparable condition. Looking for some input on them as to what would make one a better purchase than the other.

I'd probably go with the 5700. A few years newer design, lower THD, a little more power, nice meters to look at.

its a nice unit.. looking forward to getting it running. If there are blown drivers and availability/desirability of replacements I may end up re-engineering the heatsink to take to-3p devices.

I've got a 4006, very warm sounding amp. Guess it depends on what you are powering.

it is just a guess, but the Kenwoods of that era 70s or so,
probably all had good sq. Just a guess tho as I have heard only 2 of the silver amps

I'm a 5700 fan too. Great looks and super sound. I've never heard a 4006.

I've refurbished both the KA-5700 and KA-4006 amplifiers and they are both solid performers. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either one of these amps, however my personal preference would be the KA-4006. It has a warmer sound and the build quality is better in my opinion. Pair it with a nice KT-4007 tuner and you have a nice looking, very nice sounding setup.
