Kenwood Owners Show Us Your Kenwoods!

My friend had both, 700C and M. They didnt work. I just bought a pair of Swedish made amazing speakers and felt motivated to give them good input for a good output. So he gave them to me, I said I will try and fix them. Just finished with the C, all is good besides the treble control does not work. I am running the C with a Crown CH2 at the moment. Sound is great! I have replaced all capacitors on the M, waiting for the one bipolar one. Since I have no experience whatsoever in electronics, those transistor issues is really giving me a head ache!! But I will try and fire it up soon and see what happens. :) Glad to see such big community and interest. All those pictures and renovations done here helped me a lot.

Fired my 700M up yesterday...it could have gone better! :) It got so hot so quick it bloody well broke in two!
I should add that when I first got it, it didn't do anything at all...so after changing all the caps (not changed the 22.000uF yet) at least it has resurrected...I will call it Lazarus from now on. My 700M Lazarus.

Hello, First time posting..... I have wanted to set up a vintage listening room for years, and finally started piecing together a system. I targeted mid 70s, but it's a bit of a mix, Kenwood KA-8100 amp, Kenwood KT-6500 tuner, Technics EQ, Technics SL-1500 and Technics SL-Q303 Turntables, AR 4x Speakers on top, Wharfedale W70 in middle, and TEAC LS-80s on the bottom of the speaker stack, Sony CD player, and Pioneer RT-71 Reel to Reel player..

Nice! That'll get you started! :);) Welcome to AK! :)

Thank you Eyewadude, I'm enjoying the setup and I have been lurking on the forum a bit trying to soak up some knowledge.

Thank you rickl, the bass is a 4003, early 1980s in rare silver, the clear coat takes on a yellowish hue with age and the color shifts to more of a silver/green hue vs the original silver color. I've had it since the early 90s and it's the one that will stay in my hands, where the others may get rotated out/sold/swapped.

One beautiful set-up:):thumbsup::)

I recently picked up a pair of L-07M mono blocks. I checked DC offset and bias and overall condition. All within spec.

I quickly put together a SACD and started trying preamps until I found one I liked.

Here is a pic with a Lafayette pre that sounds really nice.

I just got these for myself for my birthday. KA-701 and KT-615. I had a KA-701 when I was much younger and loved it. It disappeared somewhere years ago. I used a different tuner back then. The amp is working flawlessly, but the tuner needs some work. The stereo/mono switch won’t engage and both bulbs are dead. Does anyone know if these bulbs are plug in or wired, and the difficulty level of replacing the switch?
