Klipsch La Scala’s

Well then.... you just need to get to know more wives!

There are a handful (not many I have to admit) however, there are other locations where it's even worse.... they have a Jubilee under it or the MWM system.

Not all wives are against large, ugly "teenager speakers" in their house.... (though I must admit, mine is but since I had them when she met me.... she endures!)

(pics are NOT of my house, but someone elses who's wife happens to approve)

LOL ...
I got nothing! :)

We are building 3 for our front stage in our living room Home Theater...my wife has no problem with that or the 4 Belle Klipsch Bass bins I am building for surrounds with 18x10 horns either.

When I got my Cornwalls, I talked it over with my wife. We were initially told they were klipschorns, but a picture from the seller told me they were Cornwalls. These are smaller than the Klipschorns, I told my wife. When my son and I were bringing them into my house, I told my wife, they seem bigger than we thought! Then we brought them into the living room. They were huge! Plugged them into an amp, and all drivers were working, so I suggested we try them out for a few weeks, and if she didn’t like them, we would sell them.

Two weeks later, I was playing something we both knew well and loved, and she suddenly tells me, those speakers are keepers! And there they remain. They don’t really dwarf the room once they were in place, and the tops make great lamp stands!

I did the mid -3db mod on mine, and feel I need to go down another -3db on the mids. I find them "shouty" with music, but great for TV and movies - to the point where I ripped out the 7.1 surround system and just went with stereo and the LS.

I did the -3db mod also, and kept them that way for a couple of years. I switched it back to "stock" recently, and I like it better. The -3db mod reduced the dynamics and "liveliness" of the speakers too much for me. I would like to get or build a pair of horn loaded subwoofers to extend the bass, but I'm pretty happy with them the way they are.

Have you seen the "bass box" DIY addon for La Scalas?

I have seen that, and might try it, but some of the tapped horn subwoofer designs appeal to me even more.

Not knowing your budget but, if you really want to catapult them to stunning sounding.... convert them to a 2-way speaker and slap a K402 on top.

Keep in mind the K402 is (if you put it on its side) taller and wider than the entire LaScala speaker!
I've owned klipsch heritage speakers off & on for 45 years so I'm not often excited by seeing a pair , your heritages are horn porn of the highest order , Wow,just WOW !

No wife I know would let this near their house...

Time for that wife to get a new house ,I'm fortunate that my wife likes massive 10 foot tall speakers and 200 pound amps ,when we were kids & broke with no garage she used to move her dining room chairs out of the way so I could ride my Triumph Bonneville & Kawasaki KZ-750 up the steps ,across a line of blankets and into our dining room ,we had pocket doors all over the house so she used to call the dining room my garage ,all that changed when we had kids though lol ,she made me strap my AR-9s to studs in the wall so they wouldn't fall on a kid .
