Let's Twang it up KC style!

Finally got the truck about all unpacked today.Takes me a couple days to recuperate from all this anymore:sigh:.Darn good to see everyone, and pretty soon I'll try out some Ruski tubes and see how they compare.I think Suzie makes about the best coffee this side of the Missouri:thmbsp: Thanks again for putting up with us!

Not to take anything away from our amazing hostess, but Nickrobotron brought that coffee urn with all the fixins. Dang it was delish too!

Now, that's a damn fine ceremonial fire. Any Maggotbox consoles on there? Mebbe next year...:smoke:

I heard a rumor there was a console in there somewhere. Luckily we were in KS so I didn't have to cite the owner for violatin' solid waste regulations. :D

I almost added a pair of Advents to the ceremonial fire, but Glenn saved them for a potential, future audiophile. He's a better man than I.

Thanks to everyone for the good time. The host and hostess are incredible people for allowing us all to track mud all over their carpet. And for all the food (Victor and Mrs. Victor too)!

Thanks, Jeff for the amps (and pretzels). They went to good homes the next day (not the pretzels, I ate those). My roommate loves the Dual, by the way.

Thanks, Mark for the Yamaha. You still have a $10 credit for the next Twangfest. I didn't forget.

Thanks, Pak and Barb. The Onkyo system sounds great. I'm sure we'll be in touch regarding coffee in the future.

I brought 2 gallons of coffee and I only dumped out 4 ounces. That's really impressive. I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

Jay, thanks for keeping KC on the AK map and bringing us all together. It has to be a lot of work throwing these things and you're the only one doing it in the area. That's pretty badass.

hey from midmoe, thanks to the hosts, the attendees of the twangfest, and I hope we will do this again soon. I have a rather large room, 20'X40' with a 13 foot ceiling and a 12' stage in my 1889 brick mercantile building.....hughesville is a little south of I-70, just north of sedalia. I could host a gathering of AKers if anyone wants to do something this fall, while the weather is nice.....I am in the process of remodeling, and will have the room 60' long next year.....pm me with any interest. Thanks again to the Townleys and everyone at the twangfest. midmoe, (Edd)

I'm late with my thanks but they are from the heart.

Everyone I talked with from the Twangfest was just as nice as could be. I had to leave rather early, but that turned out to be for the best because I would have left without a cent to my name.

I did have the occasion to ask several people- of more experience than my own- about their experiences/recommendations regarding how to get the most out of my system. I heeded some advice and cannot be happier with the new addition to my system, an equalizer!!!!

I'm so sorry I had to leave prematurely, but, it was quite a wonderful day for me!!!

Thank you so much Jay for your wonderful hospitality,

See you next Twangfest

Party's at Edd's place. :D

I wish I could have brought a gallon of that stuff home, it was that good. I didn't have a waterproof pocket. :D

I stand corrected! good stuff!

Some how I missed that shit! The wife mentioned how good the coffee Nick brought was and I was like what coffee. She said you guys told me 6 times, but I guess it never registered. I tell ya, I love hosting these, but I like going as a guest better. There was a time though, Sat. night when I guess everyone was out by the fire and I'd been sent to get an outdoor system together. I ran down into the shop and my 2A3 was on and all warmed up playing Lush Life. I sat my fat ass down in a chair and just listened for about 15 minutes.:thmbsp: That might have been the same time that I stole the second brownie.:D

Hey, I'm trying to remember / figure out who gave me the beautiful rectifiers. Could someone let me know please. My brain was bouncing around like crazy and I'm going nutz trying to figure this out.

I think we should do something in Spring, maybe at Mid-Moe's or even, saints and angels, at the Garage Mahal. :yikes:

As for the 2A3's and the last brownie, I know you aren't in favor of entitlements, but I think you earned that one.

Hmm, all I left were those toxic vintage capacitors. :scratch2:

I dont remember either, but we were sitting right at the table when it occurred. They appeared to be in their original wrappings and all! I cannot remember the face however, of the "giver".....

I had a great time. Thanks Jay and Susie for a lot of fun! I took a few photos, also:

Who's that goofball with the skinny legs? Oh crap that's me.

The second one is great. Needs some cartoon balloons.

Barb and I [finally!] rolled up in front of "Rancho el Splat" last night well before midnight, after some more days in Overland Park, and a long drive back to Carlsbad. Computer access at last!

It was so good to see you all again, and to see some new faces as well.
Good company!
Good food!
Good coffee!
Good brownies!
Good tunes!
Awesome audio out on the lawn, courtesy of Ed!
...and not least...
Great hosts!

Thanks to all for generous deals, but I wonder at myself for arriving with one tuner and leaving with three...

The excellent coffee at T-fest was a good lead-in to a Roasterie factory tour, and later, an obscure place off 31st Street called All About Coffee, the coffee equivalent to a high-end audio salon. Ever seen a $400+ coffee maker or an $85 espresso tamper? I never knew some of that stuff even existed! An SYT at the Roasterie gave me the word to use 200 degree water (good idea) and 75 grams of coffee per batch in my french press (bad idea). I figured out they want us to use more Roasterie coffee. They also won't let you know that there are other roasters in town, one in my hometown of Gladstone, and I'm going to try some of that real soon (bought a small bag). Looks like KC is becoming a coffee mecca, the Seattle of the Midwest maybe...

On the way home, we stopped in Erick, Oklahoma for gas and pizza (my third-favorite pizza place, after Minsky's in KC, and McSalty's in Springfield, MO). We took in the Roger Miller museum, which we hugely enjoyed, and a local junk store. It was a lovely town with friendly people, and I'll never say a bad word about Sooners again...

I hate to wait for the next T-fest!!
