Marantz 2225.. a good one?

No personal experience with a 2225, but pretty much any Marantz amp or receiver from the 70's is a quality unit if in good working condition. The 2225 is less common than other models. Only you can decide if it's worth the asking price.

I've owned a 2225 for the last 7 years. It came to me in good working and cosmetic condition and in that time I have recapped it and it sounds beautiful! It may only be 25w per channel RMS but it definitely has a lot of headroom and sounds bigger than it's rating.

Easy to work on and generally very reliable.

For 250? Maybe a little overpriced. If it has been fully restored, is mint and/or in full working order then maybe. When it comes right down to it, it's what it's worth to you...

If you do put down the cash, you'll be glad you did!:music:

I currently own 2. Both mint cosmetically, recapped, and wrapped in wc-22 wood cases.
Imho the sweet spot in the 22xx lineup, especially if you are spinning vinyl. I own, and have owned, many of the Marantz in this series. The 2225 is the only one I own 2 of.
At $250, knowing what I know now, it would be tempting. It's only money......
