I was wondering, is it possible to hook up a JVC 4-DD5 to a Marantz 4230 and would it work?

My knowledge of Quadraphonic equipment does not go so far that I know if SQ and CD-4 can be combined, or is the output of the JVC just some kind of AUX output fed into the Marantz 4-channel AUX inputs?

Yes, you could hook up a JVC 4-DD5 to your Marantz 4230. You would connect the four outputs, (LF, RF, LB, RB) from the JVC to the four CD-4 / AUX inputs on the Marantz receiver.

The JVC 4-DD5 would be used to play CD-4 (aka Quadradisc) records. To play matrix type (SQ, QS, Stereo-4) records, the decoder built into the Marantz 4230 would be used.
