So, helping a seller with a vintage audio estate from her late husband. I found a great working Mark Levinson No. 32 reference preamp and controller. The only puzzling thing to me is that it looks like the black finish on the front panel of the preamp has been removed, I think--see pic below. My question is, why would someone do this? I found the original receipt from where it was purchased and it was bought new, not used. Thanks in advance for your comments. David.

I'm with ya on that...I'm just baffled here. Never quite seen anything like this, especially on a piece of equipment that someone spent big $$$ on.

Thanks, that's about the only common sense thing I can think of. I'll probably speak with the family and see if they have any thoughts, maybe he told them about his "projects" :)
