After a few hours of playing records, the left speaker gave a noise of static, intermittently, then went silent. I unhooked the speaker, took it over and hooked it up to the right channel -- no issues. Played fine.
I swapped banana plugs and reconnected speaker wire to back of Mac. Then, I could hear a low level audible sound of music when balance nob all the way left. I went to bed.
The next morning, with balance nob all the way left, I was getting more sound, but as I turned up volume, the sound quality disintegrated and became very static around 10 o'clock.
Any thoughts or ideas as to what the issue could be? I'm hoping a good spray cleaning of knobs etc does the trick. Could it be sthg worse though?
