763s are now being ghetto bi-amped by a Luxman L-480 Integrated Amp (A+B mode). Not sure if it’s the amp, extra power or split signal, but they are responding nicely.

Nobody in with the "white conuses" series? And why not? I wonder about your opinions about them. I own 70's 700's 701's (2 pairs) and a pair of 704's. In daily listening use are the 701's. the small 70's I use in my desktop computer-setup. the 704's are too big for my listening room, they just cant release their real sound with the opposite wall at just 4 meters......used them in a small theatre-setup and they sounded pretty impressive.

I just picked up another pair of 770 mk2 but at this point it looks like they will only be good for part's. :(

First pair of Missions is my 707’s that I’ve had since 1985. Redid the foam surrounds a number of years ago, still going strong. Enjoying them with the NAD 7100 I just acquired.

Home theater setup is a pair of Mission Volare V62’s with marching center, M7DS surrounds, and SVS sub driven by a Denon 3802. Not quite as bright as my 707’s, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Always loved that Mission midrange, especially with jazz.

i use a set of 770 freedom for my tv fronts
the fella i bought them from bought them new as a package deal

he brought it home, hooked it up and the amp fried every thing
the dealer went good for it, replaced everything, and gave him spares
so i have NIB tweeter, 2 diaphragms and a NIB woofer
and the original stands tho i dont use them

Any chance you would be interested in parting with the 770 stands ?

Love my Mission 780 Mk2 Argonauts. I've owned them since new and doubt I'll ever part with them.
Also plan on picking up a pair of QX-2 bookshelf speakers soon.

I'm a proud member of the Mission club!

I scored near mint Mission Argonaut 780 MK II for $300 off of CL. I mean, NEAR MINT.... for $300!

Will post photos soon.

Jazz tonight sounds excellent; classical and rock to follow tomorrow and the days ahead.

Have Mission 753 speakers in the Living Room for movie and music . My room is for now the mission 710 speakers and previously were the mission 770 mk2 ,707, 700 , 761 which i rotate and keep in storage.

hi , have you got around to replace back the original Seas tweeters? since you got yourself a second 770.

Yes i did. They sound much better with the seas units.

what cap you used?
I used wilmslow audio supersound cap's.
They sound a lot smoother but very open with a very large soundstage depending on the amp.

Thanks:thumbsup:

Nice

how bad is the other 770?[/QUOTE

The cabinets need to be re done because one has been painted white then sanded back.
The driver's seem ok. One is 81 the other is 82. Both tweeters are good and there's the crossovers so I may part them out. :dunno:

As long the veneer is good , paint stripper /remover will do a nice job follow by fine sanding. replace the tweeter ferrofluid if you haven't done so.

I'm presently running a Mission Cyrus One amp (07 revision with toggle power / cast heatsink etc) and a pair of 765s. The 765s were a total bargain from FB Marketplace - $50 in perfect working order. I replaced the crossover capacitors and now I'm looking at doing the amp with some Nichicon Muse or similar.

And older picture, but some 700's, 780 Argonaut MK1's and 765's. Currently running them off a Cyrus Two, but feel like they need a little more wattage to give them justice.

I've since sold the 700's, but the other two are still in the family.

Hi everyone. I am pretty new here at AK and am enjoying the site. I am waiting on parts to repair my amp and was wondering if it would be worth while reforming a pair of 710s. I have never ran them as the foams are toasted. I would like to test them with my dmm rather than drag them out of the garage. Any info on how to PROPERLY do this with a meter would be greatly appreciated. If things check out I would like to refoam these as I have heard nothing but GD things about these speakers. They are missing the covers. I can make a pair but have no idea what the originals look like. Thanks AK and hope Ur all safe. Cheers

Thankyou so much for the reply. They are the wood grain model, the cabinets show their wear but I am hoping all the other components are ok. Stay safe and cheers.

Peter I had the time to look at your pictures a little closer. Great detail with the rule and I can see the groove in the wood for the staples. If the covers turn out decent I may try to make or buy some tags. Thanks again awesome pic details! Cheers
