MM phono stage to use with an SUT

The solid-state SUT I trial is reviewed to be of the "clear and neutral" kind as well.
The term "solid state" refers to transistors. A SUT doesn't use transistors, though I suppose it is "solid state" in the sense that it is solid and nothing moves. This is a quote from wikipedia's page about solid state:

The term "solid state" became popular in the beginning of the semiconductor era in the 1960s to distinguish this new technology based on the transistor, in which the electronic action of devices occurred in a solid state, from previous electronic equipment that used vacuum tubes, in which the electronic action occurred in a gaseous state.

A headamp is a solid state device using transistors and/or op-amps to do essentially the same job as a step-up transformer, ie raise the output of a LOMC cartridge to MM level.
