I have a Monitor Audio iDeck, and really like it. They apparently didn't sell well at $350, and are now down to $150. I assume this means they're discontinued, but for any reasonable price, I've heard nothing even close.

What's intriguing about the iDeck is that it somehow gets the digital stream out of the iPod and uses its own DAC to convert. I'm going to buy another one, then see if someone here can modify it to provide a digital output. From there, it's off to the MDA-1000...
Anyone good at modifying little digital gadets?
