More office Marantz drop offs

Love that all the staff at work knows I collect, restore and like old audio equipment.

These are the latest drop offs in my office. They look like they have spent a few years in the woods.lol
I’ve never owned a Marantz Solid State piece before, I’ve had many Pioneers though, looking forward to checking them out.

It’s a 2252 and 2238

So, first question that I have been unable to figure out, what’s the difference with the “B” version of Marantz’?

Thats a nice drop off. I wish I had that problem of people dropping off Marantz gear...

The non B models of these receivers were only made for one year, as Marantz transitioned from the classics like 2230/2270, etc to the later silver face B models that had the same number designations. They share nothing with the silver face B models that came after.

These older Marantz are still here, I listen to them all the time. The owner is waiting to hear them on some efficient speakers before he decides what he wants to do with them.
I don’t think he is buying “that’s old junk” from me when he hears how good they sound on AR 2AX speakers.

This isn't exactly right. My 2230B is not silver faced, and I'm pretty sure there are others that aren't. Haven't looked to see if it's true or not, but you might be able to say all silver face models are Bs, but not all Bs are silver-faced.

True. The 2215B, 2220B, 2230B, 2240B and 2250B shared a face design with the earlier non-B models (off the top of my head). After them came the slightly different looking 2216, 2238, 2252, 2265, 2285 and 2330 that were only made for a year or so. Then came the silver face B models with the same number designations.
