My Marantz 2230 Rebuild Thread

I helped my son install a subwoofer into his Miata on my only day off this weekend. I'll see if I can make progress during the week.

So I'll need some resistors...

R021 & R022
Marantz part#RC 1002212
Solid (?) Resistor
2.2ohm +/- 10% 1/2W

Ok Google, what's a solid resistor?

Will metal films work, or since these are in the speaker coupling circuit, would metal film be too susceptible to frequency problems?

Edit: I picked up some 1 watt 1% tolerance 2.2 ohm resistors from Fry's Electronics. I chose to do this, rather than mess around with the short leads on the resistors. This was due to the unique way my 2230 was assembled, not because of missing components in the kit; it is complete. 89¢ for the resistors + no wait = no brainier, plus I needed a couple of capacitors for a tube guitar amp I am fixing.

Well, the coupling and power supply capacitors are in and the 2230 passed the dim bulb test for the work so far. I had hoped to get further, but putting these in was a real pita! I'm an industrial electrician, where we believe in leaving slack in the conductors. Not so with audio gear!

I include ring terminals pre-soldered to the large caps, in my kits. That way the fit is not as tight and you have something to easily solder the wires to.
