Here is the thing: my in-law asked me for some help in building a vinyl rig. An amplifier, speakers and (possibly) turntable. Nothing fancy considering budget about 250 pounds...I can't ship anything from the US (shopping price is ridiculous) so maybe some AKer in UK can help.
She lives in North West England / North East Wales...
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can buy and have stuff shipped to your in-laws and I'v noted over there they do a lot of pick-up. The thing is there is a lot of stuff there that we don't see much here, Like vintage Michel tables, put it this way, when it comes to Thorens, Michell and SME they dominate in those brands compared to here. The other thing is the electrical will be right as well.

If you get a turntable with phono stage, all you need is a pair of active speakers. There are some decent Wharfedales available, and fairly inexpensive, in the secondary market. Easy purchase, and Bob's your uncle.

Contact Wilkinson HI-Fi,a family run affair,good honest people,based in North West England,a suberb of Burnley called Nelson.
I also believe they do drop off and collect in the Cheshire area which is even closer to North Wales.
