I'm currently running a Sonos controller into my Peachtree Grand Integrated X1 amp but wanting higher resolution files to play. The amp has a very good DAC built in and lots of ways to input but I'm wondering just what it takes to get higher resolution into it. Any ideas?
I'm looking for streaming from stored files I have in .wav and flac files.

I would start investigating external DACs. If your storage device has a USB out, I'd make sure it was a DAC with a USB input.

Higher resolution depends on the specification of your source files. Most CD rips will be 16 /44.1 but you can always download higher resolution files.

Here's a good site to read and review on current DACs.

In the DAC section here at AudioKarma there are quite a few threads on DACs including preferences, reviews, specifications, high resolution file info, etc... That would be a good section to peruse should you decide to go with a DAC.

Also, if you become a Subscriber here at AK you get access to Barter Town, our audio sales marketplace here.
