Back in October of last year my daughter son in law and newborn moved in while they remodeled their house. Being the nice dad I am I gave them my upstairs listening room that connected to the bedroom they would be staying in. There house was suppose to be ready in April which turned into the end of August. Right before they moved in I purchased a pair of JBL L300's. Everytime they would be gone for an extended time I would run upstairs with my dolly and pull them out of the corner and hook them up. Wow I loved those speakers. I knew to get the most out of them they probably needed recapping and now was the perfect time to do it. I started reading up on the Nelson Pass crossovers and decided to go that route. Our on Kerry AKA MCM_Fan agreed to give it a go. A couple of months later they were ready and boy does he do good detailed work. Just got them put in about a month ago any really just now getting to listen ti them. Caps still need some break in time but it already is an improvement. About that time I decided take this down time and upgrade the rest of my system. 1st thing I did was sale my Mcintosh c20 and then purchased an almost new c1100 tube pre and controller. I was able to hook it up while my visitors were still here and sneak in a listing session here and there. Next my plan was to sale my MC30's to go with a newer amp but I just couldn't get rid of them. So i stretched out and bought an almost new pair of Mc601's. Well those damn things were to big to move in out of my system for only a short listening session so there they sat downstairs tuck away for 3 months. That was hard looking at them and not listening to them. So last week they moved out (boy do I miss my 1st grandson not being here all the time) and I started putting together my system that have owned for 3-8 months but had never heard all put together. Man does it sound good. The only equipment i have owned since I got back into music 6 years ago (was never really out but only owned digital stuff)was vintage and I still have a couple of vintages system but it nice to try some new gear. To complete the system the equipment I already had were VPI TNT, D150 DAC and Theta Digital cd transport. Next I will be looking for something to stream with thru the D150. Sorry for the long story. Oh yea, I know the rules so here you go.
