I have a brand new TEAC UD-501 coming in. I know it has been replaced but it has received great reviews and since I do have some *.dsf files, I do need that ability. I was planning to buy a floor model but they said, they will sell me a brand new unopened one for the same price, so I said fine. It is being shipped today. It will be interesting to see what it does for my audio experience.

That looks nice, and reasonably priced. Looking forward to your review.

Are you aware of TEACs high end gear, Esoteric?

I have heard it but can't afford it - 10K for a DAC with clock module.

    Nice stuff for sure.

I have had a chance to hear the latest CDP with a Burmester Integrated and Wilson Sabrinas. Nice setup.

I was going to buy the new Pro-ject Pre Digital S2 but I don't want to have anything to do with MQA until smell of snake oil has been wiped from it.

I don't yet have a standalone DAC. My Rotel CDP is decent and I use an OPPO 93 for any streaming, but one is in my future or a full blown streamer.

At AXPONA last year, it was the Esoteric stack (integrated, CD, DAC and Clock) with latest TOTL Cantons and it was an amazing setup.

I didn't want a streamer as I already have JRiver 23 setup for household use and I have Daphile for may small listening room system. I just wanted a DAC and one that can do SACD's also.

    Cheers,

These seem to be offered at good discounts currently, too bad unlike the newer 503 it doesn't offer variable output, if it did I would have probably got one too.

I am not worried about a variable output but, the 501 has better reviews than the 503 also. Hence, why I am picking one up.

@botrytis But you have more than 8 .dsf files correct?

Definitely - and some I bought on some from some online sales (which were cheaper than actually buying the disc).

My SMSL-M8 DAC died and my iFi Nano needs a new litihium battery so I need something. This was a good benefit.

Sorry, Olson - too early in the morning for me :D (I GOT IT).

    @botrytis

    Glad you got it.

@Wildcat and I should get out stuff together and come up with one set of them.

@olson_jr I was up at 4:30 AM this morning dealing with the Mother In Law so I was tired and obtuse. Sorry 'bout that.

I should get the new toy delivered today! :D

But you don't have to deal with 2 people like that (and one wasn't my mother in law :D )
