I will be working on my storage issues after the first of the year, including getting some sort of portable drive. Everything is on a pokey network drive at the moment. But at least I have the list together, and everything in one place.
I hear ya. I have entire days feeling as though I'm >90° and <180°.

I need to figure out how to convert my current list into a text file to pass along.

Well, it is way different. More dynamic better balance through out the range. I know I will need to 'burn in' the DAC so right now it sounds fantastic.

I am using DAPHILE and since it is Linux, no issues with the DAC. I will listen tonight to see what I think about it as it burns in.

    Apparently it worked. :D

I use this at a command prompt in Win10:

    Code:
    dir *.iso /b /o:n > _list.txt

Well, after about 1/2 hour of listening to my favorite tracks, it is not subtle the difference between what I used before and TEAC. Don't get me wrong, the SMSL is a great intro DAC, it wets your whistle so you can find that slippery slope to better DACs. :D

So what your saying is save my lunch money for a little while since I have been looking at the Topping D30, SMSL and some Schitt.

I am an Apple Boi (I say that not so much because it is true, but because I know that Botrytis has a special place in his heart for Apple products) so those windows commands are greek to me.

Once again I was overthinking it as there is a pretty easy to use text editor on my machines.

That is what I discovered when I bought a Chord Chordette Qute EX DAC. The not subtle part.

    Good for you.

I would never buy another Chord, sounds great BUT they quit supporting the drivers for this DAC and it will not work with my current OS or the last one AAMOF.

I have to use one of the USB to Coax converters. Pissed me off to even type about it.

Yep, that is why you can find the Chord Chordette Qute and Qute EX and maybe some other Chord DACs used for great prices. Not sure if that is an issue with Windows or Linux OS?

Linux doesn't usually need drivers from DACs. I am not using any with my Daphile system (Linux-based). Windows will probably be the same thing.

This one is the real deal, the SMSL was nice, but the difference in sound is extraordinary. I had an SMSL and an iFi and the iFi is a little lower output than the SMSL but both had little snapping sounds in some songs. There is nothing like that from the TEAC.

I’m trying not to go there with my casual listening, it’s mostly background that’s on if someone is in the house. My sit down listening is vinyl because I like the ritual of it all :beatnik:. But if it wasn’t for that I’d be full in on digital! I’m also thinking the tubes are just making it better
    :D
I think the rabbit hole for the below $300 DACS is probably scary.

I don't do tubes for power (too fussy), pre-amps yes. When I listen I hit random song selection and hit go. With 30K songs on tap, I could go for a while :)

I have vinyl, it is more a special occasion listen.

Yeah, I’m all about maintaining the gear also. Maybe 23yrs tweaking Sonars? But I see your side of it and could as easily drop 2k for a DAC just as fast as I will for a TT!

Edit: why do I kid myself with logic when I know I will need to make my digital better. :(
