Hello, I have just changed my old setup consisiting of magnat viva 4 speakers and a Sony integrated ta f 220. This sounded great but the amp started to act up. I went entry level, all I could afford now. What I got are tannoy eclipse two's and a marantz pm5005 integrated. It sounds pretty good and I do have a sub that helps with the low end. My question: is this a step down in overall quality of gear? Thanks for your answers.

What do your ears tell you? Sometimes you have to spend a lot of money only to later realize you didn't have to spend that much to be happy.

A lot more detail then before. Better stereo separation but a little muddier sound, as if the magnats sounded clearer. Thanks for your answer.

I wouldn't call those pieces "entry level". How long have you had the new gear? Let the speakers break in - play with speaker placement, toe-in, etc before making your final decision. Most importantly, enjoy what you have!
