Ortofon Red or a new stylus for my 270C?

I have a Technics SL-B2, which I need a new stylus for. I want to spend about $100 (AUD) for a replacement. So far I have found an Ortofon 2m Red combo that my local shop will fit for 150, so a bit of a stretch but do-able. But I have also heard that the 270C is a good cartridge, although I have never heard this one working...

Basically, my question is, what should I do? Put aside the 270c and go straight for the new Ortofon, or spend the money on a stylus for my 270c? Maybe you guys have an entirely different suggestion all together! I'm finding huge price differences of replacement styli for the 270c, so some guidance in this area would be much appreciated!

The Ortofon 2M Red has a basic elliptical stylus.

The Technics EPS 270 can be fit with:

HE-hyper elliptical

SAS

There is better performance as you go up the scale.

The most cost effective is probably the HE-hyper elliptical. :music:
