I have a nice looking example of this deck, but I need to sort out how to get it working. It will operate in play and reverse/FF. The output is very weak, and the VU meters don't operate in unison- one wants to max out when the other seems OK. I realize this probably needs belts and maybe rollers? Any other suggestions? It is too pretty to send to recycling. Thanks!

First thing to do is put in a blank tape, activate pause, and turn record on and off (red light should turn on and off and a clunking sound inside) at least 40 times, slowly. Report back with any changes in your symptoms.

Thanks for the tip. Now to scrounge up a blank tape! I have some factory and home recordings at least 30 years old.
