Pioneer SX-1280 Protection Relay Timing

Hi,

I have an SX-1280 that has all original parts in very good shape. When I turn it on it takes about an 8-9 count before the protection relay switches the unit on. She plays fine once on and everything works well.

Is 8-9 seconds the normal amount of time before it should kick on? If not, what would be the typical amount and what needs to be replaced or fixed?

Thank you for all feedback!

I would say tad on the long side but not by too much.
It's alot of machine to get going if original.
Check the DC Balance and Idles for correct settings.
Power Supply voltages.
Watch the unregulated ramp up to its peek by connecting two meters while monitoring the DC at the filters. See if they reach the peak voltage together. Same holds true for the regulated.
If it checks out then look at the protection circuit and replace the caps on the protection board.

I agree with above. It is possible that one or more of these, C3,5,16 are out of spec on AWM-123(protection ckt) Could also be the speed up ecap C1 too
Should be easy enough to re-cap AWM-123
