Post Your Marantz Gear Here!!!

Be careful. Marantz can been addictive. I started with a 2285, bought new in the 1970s. Then, in the past year I got the Marantz itch -- again. I picked up picked up a pristine 4400 and in the past month, a 19. Enjoy your 2270.
You aren't kidding. I started with a 4240 in November of 2014. Now I have 14 and not including the 10 I've sold.

Just picked up a Marantz sc500 and sm500dc at a pawnshop for $5 because the volume knob was scratchy and lights on the amp were out. Cleaned, and sounding wonderful with my KG4's. Can't find much info on the sc or sm so any info would be much appreciated! image.jpeg

I have a 2230 receiver,
A 5020 cassette deck

hello all, just found a Marantz 2230 at an estate sale on saturday....first attempt at pairing up speakers, turntable with limited space...any thoughts on bookshelf speakers that won't break the bank but sound good as well? Also thought on a turntable as well....love the fact that I can communicate with so many Marantz lovers out there....thanks for any input ....

I have a 2238b receiver and a 6100TT. I really like how it sounds and looks. I have a set of Koss CM1020's but those are nowhere near bookshelf speakers. I had the receiver hooked up to a set of Bose 201's for a minute and it sounded quite nice. I know there's a lot of Bose haters out there, but for small bookshelf speakers the 201's really are a good bang for the buck

A few weeks ago , I was talking with a customer at work about my love of vintage hifi, he said I have a receiver in the upstairs of my garage I bought while in the service, I will leave it on my front porch, stop and take it, might not even work. Was pretty shocked it was a Marantz 4400. I am ok at changing resistors, capacitors. I have found a service manual download, and have researched the cause of many of the issues it has. It only works in 2 channel mode but sounds fantastic, scope doesn't function, some dial lamps out. Looks to be common with the 4400. I will be tackling each issue 1 at a time in the upcoming months.WP_20160903_16_10_43_Pro.jpg WP_20160903_16_10_06_Pro.jpg

Just bought my first Marantz Receiver. Actually I have a couple of the newer ones but this is my first vintage one. She's a 2230B needs a little love but I'm excited to get into it. Needs LED kit and not sure what else. Is there a way to buff scratches and imperfections off the face plate?

Also want to pick up a 140 amp if anyone knows where to find one they seem hard to find, unless one gets comfortable buying online from Russia... marantz 2230B.jpg

so a couple for y'all. The first is a inside shot of a 2270 that I have sent off to Randy for a make over. Been sitting on it for at least 5 years and the story from the seller was it was his Dad's from his military years and had been stored for some 25 years now, since the late 80's. I received it in an original WC-22, but when removed realized it had no metal case for shipping. I snapped a couple quick nudies, thought you might like to see the before.

and then there is a 2230 that has already been thoroughly rehabbed by Pat Font. I can't say enough about how good this sounds for a 30 watt rig.

I am going to spend some time on the wood case and use it for the 2230 me thinks.

Full recap, a number of bad diodes and matched new silicon later, new FM discriminator transformer slugs and an alignment later..

Pulling in distant stations in stereo, not sounding too bad on my sacrificial speakers... Poop polished. Still only worth about $5 but that's not the point. It's to be pushed into hard service at my friend's bar. Heard but not seen. Next!
